Mission Statement:

The mission of the Shades Valley High School Counseling Program is to create a supportive and caring environment for all students through the framework of a developmentally appropriate, comprehensive school counseling program that meets the diverse needs of all students. Focusing on learning, students will embrace the knowledge and skills to reach their maximum potential by participating in programming that encourages academic achievement, career exploration, and positive social-emotional health. Effective programming goals are research-based and are designed and evaluated through the analysis of data. Through collaborative efforts with parents, teachers, administrators, and the community, school counselors advocate to remove barriers and to secure exciting opportunities and experiences for students. After graduation, all students are college and/or career ready and life ready, well prepared to meet the challenges and high expectations of a twenty-first-century global society.
