Art - Music Technology
The Academy of Music & Technology combines a research-based curriculum with a special emphasis on composition and the practical applications of technology in the music industry. Our students not only gain essential knowledge in music theory but also develop core skills using state-of-the-art software. The coursework, complemented by participation in band, theatre, choir, or athletics, covers everything from podcast production to marketing content and various forms of music, ensuring a comprehensive education for aspiring music professionals.

Art - Professional Design
In Visual Arts and Professional Design, students can focus on painting, drawing, printmaking, sculpture, ceramics, crafts, graphic design, or digital photography. Each student will produce a final portfolio that will help prepare them for future professional paths or college fields of study.

Art - Special Effects
Students gain proficiency in special effects make-up creation and application, mask making, prop making, and creature creation. This academy will provide maximum opportunities for creativity and innovative artistic output while in school. Beyond the classroom, students will be introduced to artists in residence and professional organizations.

Arts Integration Schools

We’re implementing a new dimension of learning at Jefcoed! We've adopted The Kennedy Center's innovative approach to teaching - Arts Integration. It's more than an arts program; it's a creative journey where students weave together art and other subjects, constructing understanding in a unique way.
We've added 2 schools, Bryant Park Elementary and Minor Community School, and 8 more schools will be on board in 2024-2025.

In FY21-22, the state allocated $7,048,047 to the Alabama State Council on the Arts. It also received $835,025 in federal NEA funds and $457,900 in CARES Act and ARPA funding, with an additional $60,000 from South Arts. A total of 247 organizations and 13,646 artists benefitted from these funding sources. Another 20 nonprofit arts organizations received direct grants from the NEA totaling $1,240,000.
